A relatively heavy bronze palstave axehead with top suspension loop bridging the stop-ridge. The body of the axe is decorated on both sides, to the front of the stop-ridge, with three ribs in relief. Crescentic blade, flaring at the edges; minor metal imperfections at the butt.
Middle Bronze Age period: Circa 1450-1000 BC.
Very Fine condition; good bronze.
Length 14.6 cms (5.74 ins).
Weight 451 grams.
Provenance: Ex Campbell collection 1990-2010. Found southern Oxfordshire.
