An Etruscan bronze statuette of a kore. The figure stands, wearing long robe, the garment indicated by lines and dots. Good detail to the face and hair.

Supplied with modern Perspex display stand.

Late 7th-6th century BC.

Condition: Lower arm leg missing; interesting patina of malachite and azurite, good stable metalwork.

Height (including tang) 8 cms (3.1 ins)

Provenance: Swiss coll. Basel-Landschaft. Purchased from T. B. on the Swiss art market, Basel. Previously with S. L. Antiquarian Biel/Bienne, Switzerland. Before that in Swiss priv. coll. Hans Wiedemann, Biel/Bienne since the 1990's.

The statuette is modelled after Greek Archaic korai, representations of maidens, and was likely a votive dedication at a sanctuary. The delicate modelling and decorative details demonstrate the skill of Etruscan artisans working in the highly prized medium of bronze.
