A large steatite scarab with well modelled body displaying the head and carapace. The underside is carved to show a central figure depicting a king, with the gods, Thoth on one side and Horus (or Ra-Horus) on the other, signifying the balance of wisdom and divine kingship. Pierced longitudinally for suspension.
Egyptian New Kingdom: Circa 1500-1100 BC.
