A veined black stone cylinder seal accompanied by the photocopy of a signed note by Professor Lambert which states: 'The design, which is linear, consists of two matching bands, separated by a horizontal line. Each band consists of three eye shapes joining each other Each band consists of three eye shapes joining each other at the tips, with short strokes above and below the points of join. This is a Jemdet Nasr seal, from Mesopotamia, c.3000 B.C. The stone is a little pitted on one side, but generally this is in very good condition'.

Provenance: From The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; item number R-786; academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s.
