A good-sized light green glazed pottery figure of a dog. It stands four-square, the head tilted up with ears pricked, the mouth agape exposing the fangs, wearing a harness, and covered overall in a green glaze.
Chinese Han Dynasty: Circa 206 BC. - 220 AD.
Accompanied by an expert certificate signed by Jean-François Hubert, a senior consultant of Sotheby's, dated 29 September 2005, Paris, describing the piece as a dog and dating it to the Han dynasty.
Provenance: From a private collection in Latvia.
Condition: Very Fine: age-related condition, extensive wear, small repairs to the right ear, few touch-ups, minor chips, flaking to the glaze, and encrustations. Overall presenting well and commensurate with age.
