A small-sized finely potted Chinese mingqi teapot. The ewer rests on a short, slightly splayed foot, and rises to a gently tapered, flanged neck with a narrow circular mouth, the shoulders set on opposite sides with a gently curved handle and an upturned spout. The ewer is coated in varying shades of mint green glaze.

 

Chinese Liao Dynasty: Circa 916-1125 AD.

 

Very Fine condition

Height 7 cms (2.75 ins)

 

Provenance: From The Sam and Myrna Myers Collection, Paris, France. Acquired between circa 1965-2012.

 

Compare a closely related, green-glazed earthenware ewer, Liao dynasty, 907-1125, 6.2 cm high, in the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art, accession number S2012.9.4035.
