A steatite scarab with plain wing cases, pierced longitudinally for suspension. The underside is carved to a stylised representation of the goddess Hathor, with uraei towards the top and four nefer signs meaning good, beautiful, or perfect.

Supplied with a modern hard wax impression.

 

Egyptian Middle Bronze Age: Circa 1650-1500 BC

 

Condition: Very Fine; complete and intact

Length 16.2 mms (0.6 ins).

 

Provenance: from the Gustave Mustaki collection, a collector of antiquities who amassed a large collection in Alexandria (Egypt).

 

Hathor, was associated with joy, motherhood, music, and fertility.
