Wearing the sun disc represents Horus's association with the sun god Ra. This symbolised the eternal cycle of the sun, offering the wearer the promise of daily renewal and spiritual rebirth. Such amulets were often placed among mummy wrappings to guide the soul through the perils of the afterlife and ensure its successful resurrection.
