An Ancient Egyptian terracotta amulet mould with a domed form. The entire shape is half a sphere, with a rounded convex reverse and a recess impressed on the flatter side with a floral design, probably representing the lotus flower.
New Kingdom period: Circa 1550 - 1000 BC.

A large number of moulds have been found at the site of Amarna, implying that this was a centre for production. These amulets likely carried the symbolic meanings; for example, the lotus flower was a powerful symbol of rebirth and regeneration, while cornflowers represented rejuvenation and vitality.
