A very small, almost jewel like scarab with incised features such as clypeus and legs. The obverse displays a head and a body, with the body divided into prothorax and elytra divided into two further sections. The side of the scarab is adorned with incisions that form legs, and the whole body has been colourised through oxidation and general wear. The reverse is detailed with clear hieroglyphs, including the child god Harpocrates, depicted as crouching with his left hand raised to his mouth. Below him is the 'neb' character, symbolised by a basket. The scarab is pierced longitudinally for suspension.
Egyptian Late Dynastic Period: Circa 664-332 BC.
Condition: Very Fine workmanship for such a small scarab: a dig to the surface of one of the elytra.
