A pottery pilgrim flask with a fully glazed body. The flask has a barrel-shaped body, decorated in a simple manner with a pair of lightly incised circular grooves on one side, with two small carrying loops at the shoulders.
Late Romano-Egyptian Circa 4th-7th century AD.
Complete and intact.

Provenance: Ex Abelita family collection; acquired 1980-2015.
The form is strongly associated with Christian pilgrimage culture - pilgrims to holy sites would carry sacred oils, water, or dust from shrines.
