A small bronze mace head with three round knobs at the top, centred around the hollow shaft, with a further three shield shaped projections below.
Luristan: Circa 13-12th century BC.
Condition: Complete and intact with light accretions. The metal is stable, and the mace has been cleaned and preserved.
Height: 9.7 cms (3.8 ins).
Maceheads were made in a variety of shapes and design. They may have a plain surface, or a surface spiked and knobbed or decorated with human and animal heads. They were a popular item during the second half of the second millenium BC.
