Medieval bronze chessman-type seal matrix with hexagonal stem and suspension loop. The seal design shows a central heart in the centre of a six leaf clover, each leaf containing a quatrefoil. Around this design is written the legend * IE SV SEL DE FID QVER LEL.

This is a stock anonymous motto which means 'I am the seal of a faithful and loyal heart'. There are parallels for the use of QVER for coeur or cuer, meaning 'heart'.

Supplied with a modern hard wax impression of the intaglio.

Circa 14th century.

Very Fine condition with patina; the design just a little worn.

Height 1.7 cms (0.67 ins).
