A cylinder seal in cream-coloured stone, drilled vertically for suspension. The design shows a contest scene in two groups: A hero stands to a central unclear object, with a lion behind him and whilst another hero stands between a horned animal and a contest between a bull-man and a lion.
Ancient Near East Mesopotamian Early Dynastic: Circa 2900-2600 BC.
Fine condition; complete but worn.

Provenance: From a Cotswold, UK, collection. The entire collection was seen and some entries catalogued (not this one) by the late Professor Wilfrid George Lambert , professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham in the period 1970-1993.
