A brown terracotta pottery pre-columbian Nayarit seated male figure drinking from a spherical jar, (possibly pulque, one of the oldest alcoholic beverages in Mexico), with painted decoration to the reverse.

 

Circa 100 BC- 500 AD. Mexico Nayarit pre-hispanic.

 

Condition: Complete and intact

Height 15.5 cms (6.1 ins)

 

Provenance: Ex Romy Rey Collection, London; collected from the 1980's and onwards. Previously; Christie's, London, 25 March 1986, lot 130 part.
