A pair of Roman six-sided dice, known in Latin as tesserae. Each die, made of ox bone is similar in appearance to modern dice, with the appropriate number of circles consisting of an outer ring and small central dot, from one to six drilled into each face, the pips on opposite sides adding up to seven (as on all authentic dice).
Roman: Circa 1st-3rd Century AD
Condition: Very fine: The bone slightly darkened with age, the number on all the sides of either die is clear and legible. Each side approx. 13 mms (0.5 ins).
