The Daunians were an Iron Age people inhabiting northern Apulia in classical antiquity. They lived in the eponymous region Daunia, which is mostly coincident with the Province of Foggia today. Despite existing adjacent to the Greek World, they remained unaffected by Greek influence, and their pottery remained distinctively their own, until the region was absorbed into the Roman Republic in 3rd century BC.
