A Roman provincial pottery wine flagon, in a pale orange terracotta. The vessel has a collared rim on a tubular neck, with a ribbed handle extending from the middle of the neck to the shoulders. A red slip covers the upper part of the flagon but does not fully extend to the base. The vessel stands on a small ring base.
Ancient Roman Rhineland (Germany): Circa 2nd-3rd century AD.
Condition: Complete and intact; with earthy accretions remaining.
Height: 18.2 cms (7.2 ins).
Provenance: German private collection acquired during the 1990's.
