A complete Roman silvered bronze fibula brooch of 'knee' type design with a short fat bow decorated with two high ridges, top plate, and a knob at the bottom of the foot. Traces of the original silver remaining. Complete with original pin. The knee brooch is a common type, but the bow is unusual on this example.

Very Fine condition; the bronze a little pitted in places.
Height 4 cms (1.6 ins).
The knee brooch was the most popular fibula among Roman soldiers in the 2nd century AD.
