A beautiful necklace of small individually crafted carnelian beads with a central gold tubular bead, all of which date to the Sassanian period. The beads are original and date to the period stated. They have been restrung on a modern gold-plated wire loop with gold-plated fixings (the original binding having long since perished).
Sassanian period, circa 3rd-5th century AD
Total length 47 cms (18.5 ins) including the fastener.
