A cast gilt bronze figure of seated Buddha in the Sukhothai style. He is seated in dhyanasana atop a triangular-shaped pedestal rising from three feet. The slender body is clad in monastic robes leaving the right shoulder bare. his right hand is lowered in bhumisparsha mudra, whilst the left is held in dhyana mudra above the lap. The face, with its downcast eyes, arched brows, and gentle smile, is flanked by long earlobes, the hair is tightly arranged in small spikes and surmounted by a flaming ushnisha.
Thailand circa 1750-1850
Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, casting irregularities, and tiny nicks. A fine, naturally grown patina.
