Two small but interesting Egyptian amulets.
 
One is a scarce Egyptian pale green glazed faience amulet in the form of two conjoined falcons, each wearing the solar disc, probably representing the god Horus. The falcons stand proudly facing forwards, with a loop on the back for suspension.
 
The second is a crudely modelled blue faience amulet representing the god Maahes, modelled as a lion-headed man standing in a striding pose, wearing a tall crown structure, typically representing the double Crown of Egypt.
 
Ptolemaic period: Circa 4th-1st century BC.
 
Fine condition generally. The falcon has been neatly repaired at the lower legs.
 
Height 15.3 and 20.8 mms respectively (0.6 and 0.8 ins).
 
Provenance: Ex London gallery; previously in a 1930’s Home counties UK collection.
