Roman colonies of North Africa: Circa late 4th-6th century AD.

Reference: See page 282: Hayes, J.W. (1972) Late Roman Pottery. The British School at Rome, London. Hayes suggests that feather-rouletting was influenced by fluting decoration, often curved, on Roman silverware.
